Activities
Tall Ships Race
No adventure is as great as the Tall Ships Race for a young person. One of the worlds greatest festivals as more than one hundred sailing vessels and thousands of young people gather together in a series of ports in Northern Europe with challenging offshore sailing between each port.
Teenage Sailing Courses
Sailing for independent teenagers in the school holidays with an emphasis on having fun whilst having the option to complete Royal Yachting Association qualifications or fulfilling requirements for the Duke of Edinburgh residential.
RYA Courses
Cremyll Sailing is a recognized RYA teaching establishment for
shore based and practical courses up to Yachtmaster Offshore and
Cruising Instructor. Courses are run April to November, from
introductory weekends of “Start Yachting” to 5-days Competent Crew
and Day Skipper training surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the
Plymouth Sound. The courses will be ran on “Huff of Arklow”, an Uffa
Fox Flying 30’ of prestigious pedigree and fine sailing ability.
Huff complies to the MCA code of practice for small commercial
vessel Cat.2.
Sail Training
Sail training is not learning to sail. Rather it is using the sailing experience as a tool to develop character, build self-esteem and awareness of the needs of others.
We allow people enough space to learn at their own pace and to work as a team setting the sails, steering and participating in life on board; finding out about the weather and tides and charts by navigating the boat.
Cremyll run this activity for organised groups of young people such as schools, colleges, youth clubs and many groups working with the disadvantaged.
Duke of Edinburgh Award
Cremyll Sailing is a recognised Duke of Edinburgh Award Centre for the South West.
You can qualify for the Gold residential Award on Moosk during the Tall Ships Race, Teenage Sailing Courses and other sail training voyages lasting at least 5 days.
Cruising
The West Country to the Scilly Isles, Brittany and the Channel Islands offer fantastic cruising grounds, Plymouth Sound and Falmouth and Dartmouth Estuaries both provide good bad weather options for all our yachts. Shorter, more local cruises around the Devon and Cornwall’s coast from the Plymouth Sound.
Racing
If you are a keen sailor and would like to prove your skills on a fast and responsive sailing craft, you have to come and try your hands on one of the best of Uffa Fox’s designs, the 22sqmts “Vigilant” and “Patriot”. They will take part to the Classic Boats Festivals of the South West, were their elegance and manoeuvrability are extremely admired. Alternatively, they can be day sailed with a skipper or match raced amongst friends in the excellent surroundings of the Plymouth Sound.
