Tall Ships Travel Guide

To reach Måløy in Norway the fastest route is to fly to Bergen with the Norwegian flag airline www.norwegian.no from Stanstead or the Scandinavian Airlines www.flysas.com from Gatwick and to take the Nordfjord-Bergen ferry  from Bergen to Måløy - the ferry costs around £60-70 and it takes 4 1/2  hours see www.fjord1.no .  More details may become available on the official website at www.tallshipsrace.no  . ASTO members are looking at the  possibility of organising ground transfers to Måløy . Other small airports are Sandane www.wideroe.no  only 1 hour by car. Florø www.dat.dk  about 1 hour by boat, 2 1/2 hours by car. Ålesund has a Scandinavian Airlines flight from Gatwick  and is 4 hours by bus

The Cruise in Company will end in Bergen, a beautiful town with wonderful Norwegian landscapes, considered the jewel of Norway. More details about Bergen and its attractions can be find on its official Tall Ships website, as well as programmes and arrangements www.tallshipsracesbergen.no

We recommend to book flights to Norway early in the morning in order to join the boat by the afternoon and also to book your flights in advance to keep the cost of the ticket down. It is strongly advised that you try to arrange your travelling together with other crewmembers. Please contact Barbara in the office at Cremyll House to make sure you can share your travel plan with the rest of the crew.

Den Helder is well connected by train to the Amsterdam Airport, where most cheap airlines are travelling to and  from UK. More details about Tall Ships Festival in Den Helder can be found on www.thetallshipsraces2008denhelder.nl
